Frequently Asked Questions

Which edition is right for me?

gdotv Desktop if you are one person working from your own machine. It installs on macOS, Windows and Linux, is priced per seat, and needs nothing else from your organization.

gdotv Team when several people need the same connections, saved queries and dashboards. It deploys into your own cloud account from the AWS, Google Cloud or Azure marketplace, with single sign-on and one bill.

gdotv Enterprise when you also need role-based access control, offline or air-gapped licensing, priority support and a named account manager.

Compare the editions in full.

How do I sign up for a free trial?

For gdotv Desktop, download and install it: a sign-up form appears the first time you open it, and gives you three weeks free. No credit card required.

The trial starts with two weeks that you can extend by another week for additional flexibility.

gdotv Team and Enterprise can be trialed through the marketplace you deploy them from. Each marketplace handles trials differently, so check the terms on the listing itself, or talk to us and we will walk you through it.

Once a trial expires you will need a license to carry on using the full functionality.

How does billing work?

gdotv Desktop is billed per seat, monthly or yearly, through our billing partner Stripe. You can pay by:

  • Credit or debit card
  • International bank transfer
  • ACH
  • SEPA Direct Debit
  • Bacs Direct Debit

To arrange an international bank transfer or an ACH payment, contact us at support@gdotv.com.

gdotv Team is metered per vCPU-hour through the AWS, Google Cloud or Azure marketplace you deploy it from, so it lands on the cloud bill you already have.

gdotv Enterprise is quoted per deployment, because size, support level and licensing terms vary; get in touch and we will put a figure to it.

I need to raise a Purchase Order for gdotv licenses. What do I do?

Ask your procurement team to get in touch with us at support@gdotv.com. We will work directly with them to complete any onboarding process required.

gdotv Desktop can also be purchased through IT vendors such as SHI, Insight and iT1 Source.

For gdotv Team and Enterprise, the marketplaces are often the shorter path: the subscription goes through the cloud vendor your procurement team has already approved, and we can issue a private offer with agreed terms against it.

What do I get when I purchase a gdotv Desktop license?

An email with your license details, which activate the license in the gdotv software.

If you have bought more than one seat, the same details activate each of them.

For more on using your license, see license management in the documentation.

Can I increase or decrease license count during my subscription? What about cancellation?

Yes and yes. Manage a gdotv Desktop license at any time at subscriptions.gdotv.com, where you can:

  • Increase or decrease the count of machines on your license
  • Change your preferred payment method
  • Change your billing address
  • Cancel your subscription

Note: you will need your License ID and License Key to reach the portal.

A marketplace subscription for gdotv Team or Enterprise is managed from the cloud console you bought it in, alongside your other subscriptions, rather than here.

I've purchased my license and I want to transfer it to a different machine. How do I do it?

gdotv allows moving your license between machines, if you have changed your computer, for instance, or swapped a member of your team.

Licensing is on a per-user basis. This is not intended for switching frequently between users, and is subject to restrictions.

For more on using your license, see license management in the documentation.

Are payments secure? How do you process payments?

We take security very seriously, which is why every aspect of billing and payment processing for gdotv Desktop is handled by our billing partner, Stripe.

Stripe is a certified PCI Service Provider Level 1, the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry.

Marketplace subscriptions for gdotv Team and Enterprise are processed by AWS, Google Cloud or Azure. We never see your payment details in either case.

Do you offer discounts?

If you are a startup or small business of 100 employees or fewer, you can apply for 20% off gdotv Desktop licenses here. We generally respond to discount requests within 3 business days.

We are a small business ourselves and understand a lower price point helps.

For volume across a larger team, or for gdotv Team and Enterprise, contact us and we will quote against what you actually need.

If none of the above applies to you, write to support@gdotv.com and tell us about your circumstances. We are always happy to discuss individual cases.

How does gdotv handle my data?

It stays with you in every edition.

gdotv Desktop is an executable that runs on your own machine and connects directly to your databases. It needs no additional infrastructure, so your data never leaves your network.

gdotv Team and Enterprise deploy into your own cloud account and connect to your databases from inside it. Traffic does not route through gdotv servers, and we have no access to your graph, your queries or your credentials.

What if I have more questions?
