Graph Chat with Amy Holder at GraphGeeks & Bryce Merkl Sasaki at gdotv
I’ll be honest, reader, the absolute best part of the graph tech community is… the community.
I know other tech user ecosystems have their positives and their perks, but I’ve never been part of a friendlier bunch than with graph technology folks. Something about caring about data relationships also makes you value the human ones too.
So a decade after first meeting and working with Amy Hodler at Neo4j, it was such a joy to catch up in person at ODSC West in San Francisco and chat about our shared interests, projects, and adventures in graph tech since our Neo4j days. Also, the camera happened to be rolling. 😅
These days, Amy is the Founder and Executive Director of GraphGeeks, an online graph tech community, and I’m the Head of Marketing at gdotv, so we’ve both come a long way on our graph journeys!
In our discussion, we covered everything from the explosion of graph data vendors and use cases, how graphs solve the AI memory problem, the explosion of the GraphGeeks community, the soft-launch of GraphCon, a bit about what the gdotv team is up to, and Amy’s role as the Mon Mothma of the Graph Republic ✨(her telling answer will surprise you! ⚡).
If you’re a graph nerd like me or you just want to finally see Bryce have to answer questions instead of ask them, check out our convo below:
Graph Chat Interview: Can Graph Technology Create Better AI Memory?
In this Graph Chat, Amy Hodler and Bryce Merkl Sasaki (that’s me!) discuss how the graph space has evolved from simple nodes to the new horizon of multimodal GraphRAG and AI memory.
Together, we discuss:
- How Amy is working on moving beyond text to model audio and video in graphs
- How graphs extend AI context windows and create long-term procedural memory for agents
- Better graph database tooling: Bryce shares how gdotv simplifies the graph stack for developers with better debugging, schema scanning, and data visualization
- Why we still need old-fashioned analytics to understand our data
More about GraphGeeks
GraphGeeks is a global community for data enthusiasts, researchers, and professionals passionate about graph technology.
GraphGeeks is vendor-neutral and socially inclusive, supporting members wherever they are along their graph journey with resources, information, and meaningful social connection.
The GraphGeeks community brings together people who relish connected data, are willing to debate new approaches to understanding networks, and want to share tips on working with graphs. Members include researchers, developers, data scientists, journalists, and anyone who enjoys a good graph story. GraphGeeks’ goal is to share resources and highlight people with graph talent.
Whether you’re just starting out or deep in the graph world, GraphGeeks is the place to connect with others who share your passion. Join the conversation on Discord!
